Liverpool win Premier League LIVE: Trophy parade details revealed (2025)

Slot took over as boss in the summer following the shock departure of Jurgen Klopp last year but he manoeuvred the team that the German had rebuilt and forged them into repeat Premier League champions. Liverpool have an unassailable 82 points with four matches to play and have swept their competition aside with seeming ease this year.

“It is incredible to win this with our fans,” Mo Salah said after victory was confirmed. “This is 100% better than last time [in 2020], especially with the fans. We have a different group now so to show we can do it again is something special.”

Is Alexis Mac Allister the best midfielder in the Premier League?

Alexis Mac Allister is honestly one of the bargains of the century.

Liverpool triggered his £35m release clause to snatch him from Brighton in 2023, and they got a man who can do it all. He can defend, he can attack, he can pass, he can shoot, he’s rarely injured, he’s got a sublime work rate.

A lot of talk this season has been about the transformation of Ryan Gravenberch, and that’s fair. But Mac Allister deserves his flowers too.

It is not an exaggeration to brand him as the best midfielder in the league, at least this season. And for all of Tony Bloom’s transfer savvy at Brighton, it was criminal to stick such a low release clause in his contract.

Brighton’s loss is very much Liverpool’s gain.

The league's best 'finisher'?

The signing of Wataru Endo felt like a reactionary one at the time. Liverpool had just missed out on both Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia to Chelsea in what was quite a humiliating turn of events, leading then-sporting director Jorg Schmadtke to turn to an older, cheaper option in Stuttgart’s then captain.

Two years on and Endo’s arrival is now viewed as a masterstroke. Endo is a manager’s dream. He’s willing to die for the badge and is an incredibly reliable asset, but also knows his place in the squad, content with his position as late-game substitute to see out results.

He’s something of an unsung hero in this title-winning team and has earned his status as a club cult hero.

What next for Darwin Nunez?

A fan favourite with the eternal backing of the Kop he may be, but Darwin Nunez looks nailed on for a Liverpool exit this summer.

The towel seems to have been thrown in on his £85m investment from three years ago, having endured his toughest Liverpool season yet under Arne Slot.

He’s seemed annoyed by his lack of minutes, and when he has played, he hasn’t made his opportunities count.

Is he destined for a move to Saudi Arabia - or should he make a move back to continental Europe? Something feels right about him in an Atletico Madrid shirt, not sure why...

Arsenal toothless in the title race

Liverpool were superb this season, take nothing away from that. But there’s no doubt they benefitted from the lack of a Man City-type title rival.

Arsenal never looked like catching the Reds, especially when they lost Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus mid-season. Mikel Merino, a central midfielder, has done alright for himself as the makeshift No.9, all things considered. But he’s not exactly a striker who can single-handedly inspire an 10-point-plus recovery in a title race.

Saying that, the fact Liverpool weren’t forced to a final day tussle with a team also on 90-odd points does not discredit their season. The sort of storied rivalry they’ve shared with City over past seasons is not the norm, and it never was.

Liverpool have simply been too good to catch.
