Carli Lloyd was born on July 16, 1982, in Delran, New Jersey, to parents Pamela and Stephen Lloyd.
She is a two-time Olympic Gold Medalist, a two-time FIFA Women's World Cup Champion, and a two-time FIFA Women's Player of the Year.
After attending Rutgers University, Lloyd began playing with the Chicago Red Stars in 2008.
She played with six different teams before her retirement in 2021. Before she decided to leave the league, she played with NJ/NY Gotham FC.

In an essay in The Players' Tribune, Lloyd wrote: "It’s only a matter of time. Eventually, this game will break you.
"You know, it’s really hard to say goodbye. It’s tough to find the right words. I’ve thought a lot about what I wanted to leave everybody with, as I prepare to pull on this national team jersey one last time.
"How can I sum up what 17 years actually feels like, and what it means to me? The word that I keep coming back to ishard."
Following her retirement, the accomplished athlete worked as a Fox Sports analyst.

Brian Hollins is a professional golfer born on July 14, 1984.
Like his wife, he was born in Delran, New Jersey, and the pair are high school sweethearts.
After 15 years of dating, the couple got engaged in January 2013.
Lloyd and Hollins eventually married in Puerto Morelos, Mexico, on November 4, 2016.
When speaking of their wedding, People reported that Lloyd told The Knot: "This was the best day of our lives."
She also said: "Even after 16 years of being together, I fell more in love with him on our wedding day. I love the person he is—the person he’s become."
On May 1, 2024, Lloyd shared she was expecting her first child with Hollins in an Instagram post.

In an essay for Women's Health, Lloyd said she went through three rounds of IVF treatment.
"As a woman, I wanted to get pregnant naturally because that's what our bodies are supposed to be capable of. I felt like my body let me down," she wrote.

"There's a stigma that comes with needing help or needing to go through fertility treatments. It isn't talked about enough, but it's just a different process to get to the same end goal: becoming a parent.
"It is still hard to believe I am pregnant. It truly is a miracle."
